A few evenings ago, we noticed a small rainbow just to the right of the evening sun. I’ve never seen anything like it and took a few pictures. Of course, the pictures don’t do it justice, but here they are…

I’m guessing this would technically be called a “sun halo” even though it’s certainly no halo. The colors were far more brilliant to our eyes than they were to our camera lens. Along with the red and yellow, we could see green, blue, and orange in a narrow stripe.
The sun halo pictures here are much more breathtaking, but I’m glad this little one paid us a visit.
