Safe Glow Glowing Dog Collar Review

Not long ago, our family received a Safe Glow Dog Collar to use with our dog Max. I hadn’t even heard of glowing dog training collars before, and I couldn’t be more happy with the way this one works.

Why Would You want a Glowing Dog Collar?

Having a glowing collar might seem like a strange idea, but it makes perfect sense for anyone who takes their dog. . .

  • • for a walk early in the morning, at dusk, or after dark
  • • out of the yard to play after dark
  • • camping or hiking

Imagine playing fetch with your dog at a campground around dusk. Suddenly, he runs off into the woods or down the road. The sun is quickly going down, and you lose sight of him almost immediately. How long will it take you to find him? How will you even know which direction he went?

Too dark to see the dog, but the glowing dog collar can’t be missed!

Being a typical, high-energy dog, Max has run off so many times – not running away, of course, just running . . . and running . . . and running. The scenario above is unfortunately very familiar to us.

With a Safe Glow Dog Collar, no matter how dark it gets, the light from the collar stays visible and makes it much easier to keep track of him (or find him again if he’s run off).

Another benefit is that the glowing collar makes it easier for other pedestrians and drivers to see you and your dog. Very, very important for safety!

How Does the Safe Glow Dog Collar Work?

The collar is made from a strong woven black fabric and has a colored “sleeve” that extends along about 2/3 of the length. A very strong plastic clip secures the collar closed, and it’s very easy to adjust the collar’s length for a perfect fit.

We were having so much trouble getting
Max to stand still for a picture!

The “sleeve” holds a long flexible plastic strip that lights up when the button switch is pressed. The light can be set to flash quickly or slowly or to glow continuously. We’ve found the we prefer the continuous, non-blinking, light.

The LCD bulb uses a lithium battery and has a 100,000-hour life. That’s a lot of walking and playing!

We’ve been very pleased with the collar. Even when walking Max after dark (on our street that has very few street lights), we could easily see the glowing collar. Many times, we couldn’t see Max’s outline, but the collar still glowed brightly.

Let me go! I want to ruuuunnn!

If you ever find yourself trying to keep track of your dog in a low-light area, the Safe Glow Dog Collar is the way to go. It comes in several colors and sizes so that you can pick the best one for your dog. (The website lists only Small, Medium, and Large, but the collar is also available in Extra Large.)

  15. Krystal M says:

We have one dog, a chocolate lab named Dozer. Like his name implies, he’s usually off dozing in some corner… or causing havoc by “bulldozing” everything in his path! He’s a good dog, though… you can tell he just adores us.

  16. Heather Zeh says:

We have a newly adopted black lab who is 16 months old. She’s the sweetest most playful baby every who likes to play hide and seek and this would help a lot when she’s out at night in the yard and hiding from us, not wanting to come in!

  17. Our dog is part of our family. He is handicapped, he unfortunately was hit by a truck. He almost died, he had to go to intensive care overnight. His right front leg is permanently parellized. His left front leg he walks on his carpus. We had a custom made brace made to straighten his foot so he could walk on it rather than his carpus (elbow). But unfortunately it didn’t work. His handicap doesn’t hold him back he does everything he wants to do. He is s sweet baby.he plays with the cat that we have and is so gental with him. He also, plays with my 6 and 8 year old grandchildren. We could use this collar because he goes out side and goes in the woods to take care of his bathroom needs. We thought him to do so when he was a puppy and still does so. I get nervous when he does so at night sometimes he tries to chase deer that are in our backyard and woods. So, to have a collar that glows it would be great. It would put my mind at ease to see the collar and know he is ok. And by the way he is 3 yrs old as of September. Also, he is a pit bull, gentle baby. They get a bad rap. He, is gentle and loving I trust him totally with my grandchildren.

  18. Betsy Rubendall Barnes says:

We have one dog, named Sweetness. She is a Lab/Chow mix. She loves to be outdoors, especially at night when she “hunts” for critters. :)

  19. Jamie Martin says:

Our dog is named Roo, he is an Australian Cattle Dog and he is sooooo hyper! He keeps us very active!

  20. Shemp DeYoung (@ShempGames) says:

My dog thinks she’s a house elf. She’s a Chi-Weenie and spends lots of time up on her haunches trying to get people’s attention. When it comes to chews, she will not chew unless my daughter is home, but when my daughter is home, she MUST have one.
